Best WordPress Plugins
There are loads of WordPress plugins to choose from now which is great for anybody that uses WordPress to set up their affiliate sites. However, there is also a lot of plugins which aren’t great, so I’m going to mention some of the plugins that I’d recommend and use on most of my sites. Here they are:
Yet another related posts plugin (or YARPP) is a plugin that you can use on just about any site, especially if you’re running an affiliate site that has plenty of articles. By installing this plugin, you’ll have a list of related posts at the end of every post that you make. So if you have a post about cars on a site it’ll automatically put links to other posts that are about cars under the post. There are a number of benefits of doing this, such as reducing your sites bounce rate.
Before I launch any site that I’ve built using WordPress I make sure that I’ve set up Platinum SEO since it saves a lot of time. By installing this plugin you’ll be able to set your home title, home description, keywords and more all from the same page. Within a few minutes you could have most of your on page SEO done with this plugin!
Shareaholic adds buttons under each of your posts so that you make it easy for visitors of your site to share your site on sites like Facebook, Twitter, StumbleUpon etc. You can choose what buttons you want to display and you’ll have around 150 to choose from, but I only add the well known sites since you don’t want your site to look spammy with too many buttons.
Google XML Sitemap
Google XML sitemap lets you make a sitemap within less than a minute. By creating a sitemap, you’ll make it easier for search engines to find all of the pages that are on your site and as a result you’ll get more exposure on search engines such as Google.
TS Custom Widgets
This plugin is really good if you only want to display certain widgets on the pages that you select. Usually when you add a widget on WordPress it’ll be on every page of your site, but there are times when this isn’t what you want, and you can use TS custom widgets to choose which pages have certain widgets.
Login LockDown allows you to add some more security to your WordPress site. For example, if you install this plugin you can stop people from trying to login to your WordPress site if they enter the wrong password too many times.
By default, pages don’t have tags. This might be fine if you only use pages for privacy policies and so on, but sometimes I have to use pages for other things like articles. On http://crackedscreen.org for example posts are products, so I had to use pages for my articles. Page tagger is a great solution if you want to add tags to pages, after you install it the tag box will appear on pages, there’s nothing else that you need to do.
